A REALTOR® is a licensed real estate agent who is a dues paying member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (NAR). The 720,000 members must abide by strict Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. The Code of Ethics covers being honest with all parties, looking out for the client’s best interests, and disclosing all pertinent facts. The State of Florida determines licensing requirements for real estate agents which include a 63-hour course, an exam and continuing education. Agents also pay dues to the state association of Realtors, now known as Florida Realtors, which provides continuing education, research and lobbying for nearly 115,000 members in 67 boards/associations.
Tampa Realtors
We are also dues paying members of the Greater Tampa Association of REALTORS®. GTAR was founded in 1911 as the Tampa Real Estate Board and is currently comprised of nearly 6,400 real estate professionals. GTAR relies upon the My Florida Regional MLS as a central database for property information.
